Assessing and Stimulating Creativity in Teams: The Role of Self-Determination Theory
Creativity is a critical component of innovation in any organization. It not only drives progress but also enhances problem-solving and engagement within teams. According to self-determination theory (SDT) developed by Ryan et al., creativity thrives when individuals feel a sense of autonomy, competence, and relatedness. These three pillars form the foundation for self-determined motivation, which is essential for cultivating creativity within teams.
The following questions will help you gauge how effectively you’re fostering creativity within yourself or your team. Answer each question on a scale from 1 (Not at all) to 5 (Very much so).
Please note: I am not a professional psychologist. I created this quiz based on theories from professionals. It is a tool and is in no way validated by peer review. It is simply a starting point for reflection.
